Free Digital Marketing Courses for Malaysians in 2026
Check out the free digital marketing courses for Malaysians. Some of them will get you started right away
I first published the list of free digital marketing courses for Malaysians back in 2023. It did well, and people still land on it every single week. But the problem is that the blog post is not relevant, and half of the listed courses have gone stale.
Google killed the Digital Garage brand.
AI courses that did not exist three years ago are now the first thing employers ask about. And there's another issue: a wave of "free" courses has appeared that are simply sales funnels with a "free giveaway".
So this post is the full 2026 rewrite.
Same promise as before, though Everything here costs RM0, and I recommend them; I'll also have to tell you that there's a limitation to them, and it should be taken as a stepping stone to get started in knowing digital marketing, different digital marketing disciplines, and how it can be incorporated with your overall marketing efforts.
What changed since my 2023 list
Three things have changed over the years.
Google Digital Garage is gone as a brand.
The famous Fundamentals of Digital Marketing course moved into Google Skillshop. Still free, still with certification, and your old Digital Garage certificate carries over to your same Google account. Plenty of course lists online haven't been updated for the AI age, and some point to dead pages.
AI literacy is part of every marketing job today. In 2023, nobody asked a junior marketer about AI. Now, every marketing role touches it, and Malaysia responded with free national programs that didn't exist when I wrote the initial post.
And "free" gets abused. Most of the pages ranking for this search term today are not what they claim to be. I'm talking about products and solutions that use "free courses" to generate leads for their paid ones.
The free courses I'd actually recommend
Google Skillshop: Fundamentals of Digital Marketing

Still the best one to start with; same as it was in 2023 under its old name. If you only finish one thing on this list, finish this.
What's inside: Around 26 short modules covering how search engines work, SEO basics, Google Ads, social media, email marketing, web analytics, and a bit of commerce and strategy. Each module consists of short videos with a quiz at the end, and the entire path assumes no prior knowledge. That's not a weakness. A first course should start from zero.
Time needed: Roughly around 40 hours if you do Everything. Three weeks at one hour a night, or two focused weekends in a rush.
Certification: Free, issued by Google. One of the most recognized beginner certificates that you can add to your CV. Please don't confuse it with Google's Career Certificate on Coursera, as it is a different paid course. Make sure it's a free one from the Google Skillshop.
My tips: Don't skip the analytics modules. Most interview questions that separate candidates often come from analytics. Marketing analytics is something you don't want to ignore.
Google Skillshop - Ads and GA4 certifications
This should be your next course after fundamentals and the one that actually complements it.
What's inside: A separate course covering Google Ads (Search, Display, Video, and more) and Google Analytics 4. Each track in the course is a Google-built product training module, so it teaches you the real interface, campaign settings, and reports you'd use on the job.
Time needed: Takes a few days per certification if you've completed the fundamentals. Each exam will take approximately two hours.
My tip: Take the exam along with a practice account. The questions are scenario-based, and seeing the actual screens while you answer turns memorization into understanding. No one ever said you can't take the exam open-book.
e-Latih - Malaysia's Premium Learning Hub

HRD Corp's free learning platform, and the best Malaysian learning hub that you don't want to miss out on.
What's inside: There are more than 1,000 free courses across a range of business skills, plus a great selection of courses in digital marketing, AI, and analytics. The courses come from different providers, so quality also varies by provider. Mainly on video streams only, no downloads, which can be annoying if you're the type of person who wants to download and watch them.
Time needed: Depends entirely on what you pick. Most courses run from two to right hours. There are no deadlines, which is a blessing as well as the reason why most of them never finish the courses. Pick and set your own pace.
My tip: Same old advice. Don't keep browsing. Pick two courses, finish both in a month, and get those certificates.
AI Untuk Rakyat

The national AI literacy program for Malaysians built by MYDIGITAL with Intel, and completely free.
What's inside: Self-paced modules that started as basic awareness in 2024 and have grown positively. In 2026, the program covers Generative AI, Agentic AI, and AI safety. Everything is available in both Bahasa Malaysia and English, which no global course sites can offer.
Time needed: A few hours per module. The course of your choice will comfortably fit into one weekend.
The certificate: Free. But let me be honest about it. Over a million Malaysians have completed the program. When every single one of them holds the same certificate, it stops being a differentiator. Treat it as acquiring knowledge, not as a trophy to be proud of.
My tip: Do it anyway, and do it early. Every marketing job now touches on AI, and this weekend of modules will make sure you're no longer a candidate who can't explain what a prompt is. If English isn't your strongest language, do it in Bahasa Malaysia to completely understand Everything the modules cover.
HubSpot Academy

One of the strongest free options for content and inbound marketing.
What's inside: Full certification courses of inbound marketing, content marketing, email marketing, social media marketing, and SEO. The quality of the courses is high, and the lessons are short and well-produced. And one thing I like about the instructors is that they are not academicians but practitioners. The only downside is that it's built into their business model where Everything is taught through HubSpot's view of how marketing should work, with their tools as examples.
Time needed: Two to six hours per certification. You can easily stack three of them in a fortnight of evenings.
The certificate: Free, globally recognized, and you can display it on your LinkedIn with just a click. But most of them expire after a year or two, so renew the ones that matter the most.
My tip: Take the content marketing and email marketing certifications. Skip the ones about HubSpot's own tools unless you're joining a company that uses it. The trade of free training for a vendor's worldview is fair, but you don't have to buy the whole worldview.
SEMRush Academy

The best free structured SEO training I will 100% recommend you take. And I don't say such things lightly!
What's inside: Short, ultra-focused courses on keyword research, technical SEO, link building, local SEO, and content. Taught by practitioners whose names carry real weight in the SEO industry. These are actually people who rank sites for a living, and not mere presenters with slides.
Time needed: One to five hours per course. A complete SEO foundation takes almost two to three weeks in the evenings.
The certificate: Free; you need to complete the exams. Not universally recognized as Google Certifications, but anyone hiring for an SEO role in Malaysia will know what it is.
My tip: Pair it with Ahrefs' free YouTube guides as you go. SEMrush gives you the structure; Ahrefs gives you a second angle on the same topics, and with both, you'll learn more than from some paid SEO bootcamps or courses. And the most important part of all is to apply Everything you learn to a site you own. You can only master search marketing by applying it, not just by learning it.
Meta Blueprint

The official training for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp marketing. But there's one catch.
What's inside: A large free course library covering mainly Facebook and Instagram ads, audience targeting, creative best practices, and the Ads Manager interface. If your marketing career focused on social ads, this is the source material, straight from the platform that sets the rules.
Time needed: Most courses run 15 to 90 minutes. A working knowledge of Meta Ads usually takes a week or two of evenings.
The certificate: This is the catch I mentioned earlier. The learning is free, but the formal certification exams are paid and priced in US dollars, costing a few hundred ringgit per exam. So always treat Blueprint as free learning, not free certification.
My tip: Learn for free. But only pay for the exam if the job you're applying for requires the certification. Realistically, Malaysian employers hiring for social media roles ask to see the campaign results more than the certifications.
Jelajah AI MyMahir

New since my 2023 list, and the only in-person option among all the courses listed here.
What's inside: Free community AI upskilling sessions run by TalentCorp across constituencies nationwide. They are open to students, jobseekers, entrepreneurs, and working adults. Live sessions with a trainer and a skills assessment through MyMahir that benchmarks where you actually stand.
The certificate: The session matters more than any certification here. What you take away from the course is the assessment result, which tells you honestly which skills you're missing. That's worth more than a completion certificate.
My tip: If any training sessions are held near you, go for it. A live session where you can ask questions beats another video course, and it's the only item on the list where you'll meet other people learning the same thing. In Malaysia, half of what moves your career is about who was sitting next to you in some training sessions.
The order I'd recommend
When you're just starting from zero, don't enroll in Everything. That's how people end up with five half-finished courses and nothing completed. Here's the plan I'd recommend for you in three months:
- Weeks 1 to 3: Skillshop Fundamentals. This gives you the fundamental kickstart you need.
- Week 4: AI Untuk Rakyat. Quick, free, gets you started with AI.
- Week 5 to 8: Pick one discipline to master. If you're choosing the search marketing path, start with Semrush Academy and pick two courses from e-LATIH. Ads focused individuals should take Skillshop Google Ads certification. Content people must do HubSpot's content while social media marketers focus on Meta Blueprint.
- Week 9 to 12: Stop taking any more courses. Purchase a domain, setup a small site using Wix or WordPress. It will cost you not more than RM200. This is where you change your learning into results.
The last four months are the most crucial one compared to all three combined, and it's the part every course list skips because there nothing to link to.
Where free stops working
I review courses on this site, paid ones as well as free ones.
And there's one pattern shows up every single time.
Certificates prove you watched. They don't prove you can do.
Think about the maths. A million people hold the AI Untuk Rakyat certificate. Thousands of freshers can hold the same Skillshop certification you're about to earn.
When everyone has the certificate, the certificate stops being the differentiator.
So how do you identify the skillful ones among the certificate holders?
- One ranked page
- One campaign report with real numbers
- One simple blog or site getting traffic
In interviews, these result driven tasks beats a folder of PDFs every time. And that's exactly I got started. No certificates those days.
You need to treat free courses exactly what they are; FREE COURSES
Free knowledge, and a certification that helps as entry level. Spending money on domain and hosting will help you build a real-live proof of what you're capable of.
Actions speaks louder than words.
Your hand-on projects will make more noise about your skills than certificates.
